About

Macky FranklinHi, my name is Macky and I’m a computer geek (the first step is admitting it, right?). Even though I had less access to computers than kids do today, there were signs at an early age: my desire to take apart electronics to figure out how they worked, my love of the old Windows screen saver, Daredevil Dan, the countless hours I spent in 8th grade creating calculators using a programming language called Perl.

But I didn’t realize how much I liked working with computers until I took Computer Science 101 at Middlebury College. After learning the basics in class, I began to teach myself website design and quickly transitioned from table-based website design (see my first website) to dynamic server-side programming using PHP and CSS (see a more recent website). I also learned Java and JavaScript and created some Java applets including a 4x4x4 game of Tic-Tac-Toe with an AI player.

After declaring myself a Computer Science major and graduating with departmental honors, I started doing web design and development, and began to build websites using WordPress, a free CMS (content management system).

Nowadays, I spend quite a bit of time riding my bike (I’m a professional mountain bike racer) and as much time as I can travelling the world, but my computer is never too far away and I still have tendency to stay up too late trying to learn some new bit of web design magic.
